TONIGHT’S ELEGY
Friday, September 29th, 2006The evening used to be full of sorrow
As if the stars themselves were weeping
Twilight tears
And moonlit drops
I used to fear the waking dawn
Where morning clouds would signal
The advent of another day
Bearing a lonely wind
Or a silent telephone
Maybe the sight of me in your shadow
Has become too tiring
Or the sound of a hundred broken promises
Became too loud
And needed to be
Silenced
Along with phrases of “I love you”
And “forever”
Yet I don’t think I’ll ever reach
Goodbye
It is too impossible now
For as far as you are
From me
I carry myself along with you
The tear that you cause
I fill with you
So that my heart ails
And heals
Together because
Of you
